Having a complete LinkedIn Profile may increase sales if not improve overall search engine optimization (SEO) or search engine ranking position (SERP). This is probably one of the easier tasks to complete if you have already restructured and revised your LinkedIn profile as noted in the past blog of How to Improve Your LinkedIn Profile.

LinkedIn requires the following to be identified as a complete LinkedIn profile:

#1  – A real photo of you, not your Logo or some avatar

For many in LinkedIn, a professional photograph is a key missing element.  Those individuals who understand the value of using a professional photographer versus the quick, hand held smart device will reap incredible rewards. Your photograph may be the first opportunity for someone to connect a face with a name.  That first time connection should be a powerfully positive as possible.

#2 – An emotionally engaging and compelling executive summary

This section allows you to create a compelling marketing message. Consider this to be your story about you and the value you bring to the table, what sets you apart, to Be the Red jacket in a sea of gray suits. This is not the place for your resume or CV.

#3 – Complete skill set

This section can be easily populated with existing skill sets from the LinkedIn database. Again, remember to align skill set with keywords whenever possible.

#4 – Education Background

Sharing your education experience may also prove beneficial.  Many college graduates look to connect with other college graduates from their universities. There are also LinkedIn groups geared towards college alumni.

#5 – Three recent positions

For many, listing the most recent positions is not a challenge.  One tip to remember is to include specific keywords that are consistent with your website, blog, and all marketing efforts.

#6 – Three recommendations

Here is where most profiles fail to be complete.  Usually you will probably need to request the beginning recommendations.  When taking this action, you may wish to let the other person know some areas to be mentioned. Additionally, accepting recommendations is not a one way street or quid pro quo.  There is a personal responsibility for you to also make authentic and sincere recommendations.

By following these six tips, you can quickly create a complete LinkedIn profile that will ultimately increase sales.
